Kids and teens also need support processing their emotions and navigating through their own real and complex issues.
These past few years have been traumatic for everyone. Children and teens have been particularly impacted in ways unlike ever seen before. With the pandemic, the way that students experience school, their friends, and their home lives have fundamentally shifted towards being perpetually online, physically isolated from friends and peers, and not receiving natural time away from family members throughout the week. Many spent an entire school year away from valuable socialization and connection with relevant people in their lives. Young people are also faced with incredible pressure from all directions: familial, social, academic, societal. These pressures along with the racism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, toxic masculinity, and more create a need for guidance and support. Therapy gives kids and teens a chance to get unconditional positive regard from an adult in order to help them explore their identities, navigate their vibrant world, establish coping skills, heal, and grow. |
"Adolescents aren't monsters. They are just people trying to learn how to make it among the adults in the world, who are probably not so sure themselves."
-Virgina Satir
